A Standard Automatic Cutting Machine for the Met/Materials Lab.

The Powercut 350M is an automatic cutting machine with powerful drive motor. The cutting head is pneumatically powered. The system eliminates the hand operation and gives reproducible cutting conditions. The cutting head accepts cutting wheels up to 350mm/14in diameter. The T-Slot work table can be fitted with either quick-lock vices or a variety of different pneumatic vices. The PLC control of the pneumatics and electrics gives a sophisticated cutting machine with reproducible cutting characteristics.

Cutting Head

The 32mm/1 1/4in diameter spindle is belt driven by a powerful 5.5kW/7.5HP 3 Phase motor. The long life sealed spindle bearings do not require lubrication. Abrasive or Diamond Cutting Wheels from 250/10in to 350mm/14in diameter can be fitted. n The standard wheel speed is set at 2500rpm; other belt and pulley combinations give different wheel speeds for particular applications.

Hydraulic System

A hydraulic power pack is fitted in a rear compartment and links to the cutting head via a cylinder. This gives a very stable movement of the cutting head which in turn leads to a high quality cut surface. A control valve is located below the front control panel for varying the downfeed speed of cutting. The cutting head can be positioned with a front panel control to be just above the material n A PLC is incorporated in the electronic design to control the automatic cutting sequence. If pneumatic vices are fitted then the closing or opening of the vices can also be made part of the cutting cycle.

Work Table

The work table has T slots for fitting the 2 quick lock vices. The vices have 95mm/3 3/4in capacity. Side access ports in the canopy can be used for introducing long bars through the vices.

Control system

The electronics are contained in a compartment mounted on the rear panel of the machine tray. This compartment also contains the PLC controller. The front control panel has switching for the various machine functions including the cutting head feed control. The canopy is safety interlocked and cannot be opened whilst the wheel is running. It has a large front viewing windows and 2 side windows.

Coolant Circulation

The machine can be used for wet or dry cutting. The coolant tank is located in the base cabinet. The 55l/min circulation pump ensures adequate supply of coolant in the cutting area. Flexible coolant jets direct coolant to the area of cutting.

The machine generally complies with the European CE standards.

Option

Manual cutting options   The Hydraulic Power Pack which is at the heart of the machines performance. Situated in a rear cabinet above the electrics Quick disconnect linkage changes the cutting machine into a manual machine for cutting materials where feel is important

Manual cutting option

The Powercut 350M can be converted for manual cutting for those delicate samples where hand control is an advantage
