Description 

The Labgrind has been designed for manual wet grinding of embedded samples. It has a rear compartment in which 4 abrasive paper rolls of different grit, can be loaded. The paper strips are run over 4 adjacent inclined glass plates and clamped at bottom. An eccentric roller is used to tension each paper strip. The edges of the paper strips are covered with a plastic moulding to prevent the paper tearing during grinding. A water inlet tube covers all 4 papers and drips lubricant (usually water) onto them. A drain at the lower end collects the lubricant. The unit has a cast body which gives it stability A range of paper grit sizes is available for a routine grinding protocol. When the strips are worn they can be simply replaced from the rolls.

Labpol 8-12 Convertible Manual Polisher/Grinder
Single platen polisher/grinder with interchangeable platens

The Labpol 8-12 has been designed as a compact bench top manual polisher/grinder for the preparation of samples for surface structure examination in the optical microscope or SEM. It can be configured as required with platen sizes 8in/203mm, 230mm, 250mm or 12in/305mm diameter.

To change from one platen size to another simply remove the guard, lift off the platen from the locating pegs and replace with another platen size and guard. The platen is located on a platen support which rotates in a rugged bearing housing.

The platen support is driven by 0.75KW/ 1.0HP AC motor and inverter at speeds between 50 and 500 rpm. The machines can also be supplied as a fixed speed unit with a choice of platen speeds of 180, 240 or 300rpm.

A water inlet and drain are located on the rear panel. The water inlet is connected to a control tap and flexible hose which allows water to be directed to any part of the platen during grinding.

Labpol Duo 8 Twin Platen Manual Polisher/Grinder

Description

A standard piece of equipment in most materials laboratories, the Labpol Duo 8 has two 203/8in diameter platens. The use of 2 platens reduces the number of platen changes necessary for a grinding or polishing protocol. The powerful AC motor with inverter drives the platens at speeds between 50 and 500 rpm.The selected platen speed is displayed on a digital display on the control panel.

The Duo 8 is also available with independent speed control for each platen. There are two digital speed displays to show the speed selected for either platen.

A fixed speed version of the Duo 8 is also available with a choice of speeds of 180,240 or 300 rpm.

A water inlet and drain are located on the rear panel. The water inlet is connected to two control taps and flexible hoses which allow water to be directed to any part of each platen during grinding.
