Labpol Auto series of Automatic Polishing Machines with individual sample loading

Description The Labpol 8-12 Auto 3/6 is an advanced design of Automatic Polisher/Grinder in which polishing or grinding protocols can be created by entering the required parameters on a keypad and then stored as programs for future use.   The base cabinet contains the rotating platen, which is driven by a quiet powerful DC motor via a belt drive. Platen sizes of 8in diameter, 230mm, 250mm or 12in diameter can be fitted into the standard sump. The platen speed is adjustable from 50 rpm to 500 rpm and the platen can be rotated clockwise(CW) or counterclockwise(CCW).   Two polishing heads are available one with a sample holder for 3 samples up to 40mm dia and the other for up to 6 samples with a maximum sample sizes up to 50mm diameter can be fitted. The sample holder is rotated at a constant speed by the head motor. An arrangement of 3 (Auto3 )or 6(Auto 6) air cylinders is located around the rotating specimen holder shaft. The moving pistons in each air cylinder are fully extended by applying airline pressure and locate at the centre point of each sample position. In this way each sample is individually loaded. Sample levelling is unnecessary; the samples are a good fit in the sample holder and individually loaded by one of 3 or 6 pistons. This means that the polisher/grinder can be run with only one sample or as many as six.

The polishing head can be rotated clear of the platen and the unit can be used as for manual polishing or grinding.
 
Using the Labpol 8-12 Auto 3/6 could not be simpler. The system is controlled by a logic controller and the inputs are provided by the keypad. A program can be created by scrolling through the following parameters:
 
PLATEN SPEED
POLISHING OR GRINDING TIME
WATER (for grinding) ON/OFF
PLATEN DIRECTION CW/CCW
DOSING UNIT (for polishing) ON/OFF
 
and entering values for a particular protocol.
The sample loading pressure can also be varied up to 5 bar. Up to 8 programs created in this
way can be stored and recalled for use as required.

Dosing Diamond/Alumina suspensions Integrated Dosing System The Labpol Auto 3/6 is also available with programmable dosing as part of data input on the keypad. Up to 3 suspensions bottles are mounted are mounted along the RH side of the cabinet. A triple spray nozzle unit is mounted on the top surface so that applying air pressure to a particular suspension causes droplets of the liquid to fall onto the platen. Both the duration of the spray, the interval between successive sprays and which of the 3 liquids is to be used can be programmed.

2 - Channel External Doser A sophisticated doser for polishing suspensions which can be used with any make of automatic polisher/grinder

This is an electronic doser with independent control of both Diamond suspension and lubrication fluid. The liquids are dispensed using air pressure to control the dose rate. The digital display is easy to read and shows the dose duration, the interval between successive doses and the air pressure. There are 2 air pressure regulators mounted on the rear panel one for each liquid. Controlled dispensing of diamond suspension leads to reproducible polishing results and more economical use of diamond.

2 - Channel External Doser
The liquids are contained in 2 dispensing bottles. The diamond suspension is continuously stirred by magnetic stirrer which is part of the storage unit. The stirrer has an intensity control. A dual spray bar with adjustable height is fitted on the top surface of the base cabinet and positioned to dispense either fluid onto the platen Spray bar dispensing diamond suspension & lubricating fluid
