10 Microscopy
10.1 Stereo Zoom Microscopes & Fixed Stereo Microscopes Kyowa Model SDZ Stereo Zoom Microscope (Kyowa Web Site) The optical quality of the Kyowa Stereo Zoom microscopes is well established. The highly corrected optical system is a parfocal twin zooming design with objectives inclined at 12 degrees. The SDZ head has a zooming range of 0.7x to 4.5x which can be extended by using 0.5x, 0.75x, 1.5x, 2x auxillary lenses and 10x, 15x, 20x wide field eyepieces. The wide field image is sharp and erect; no refocusing is required throughout the zoom magnification range. Two versions of the SDZ stereo head are available, the SDZ-Bi binocular head and SDZ-Tr trinocular head. The trinocular head is designed for use with digital imaging systems. A push/pull lever transfers the left side image to the photo tube. The right side image is retained and can be viewed simultaneously with photography. The modular range of components allows for incident and transmitted light, polarising attachment, dark field and mechanical stages. The heads can be mounted on universal or long arm stands for convenience of observation.

_______________________________________________________________________________________ SD Fixed magnification Stereo Microscopes The SD Stereo heads contain 2 pairs of parfocal objectives, either 1x-2x, 1x-3x, 2x-4x. The convergent optical system with it's 12 degree angle gives erect, unreversed images. All optical surfaces are coated to eliminate glare, enhance contrast and increase light transmission. The modular construction gives a wide choice of accessories including: Incident and transmitted light sources, fluorescent ring illumination, darkfield & polarising attachments; Mechanical & glide stages, universal cross arm stand, long arm stand and digital imaging coupling tube (as for SDZ stereo above)

The latest addition to their range are 2 microscopes for the materials laboratory, an upright microscope Model ME-LUX2 and an inverted microscope ME-LUX2-IV. The quality of the plan achromat objectives compares favourably with more expensive products. A excellent versatile inverted microscope equally at home in the university research laboratory or industrial Met Lab. The plan achromatic objectives are fitted as standard to give high resolution flat field images. A powerful Kohler illuminator with field and field stops gives adequate illumination even when using the high resolution Plan M100x dry objective. The binocular or trinocular viewing head has a adequate illumination even when using the high resolution Plan M100x dry objective.
Specification ME-LUX2-IV Inverted Microscope
_______________________________________________________________________________________ ME-LUX2-3C Upright Metallurgical Microscope In applications where it is easier to use an upright incident light microscope the ME-LUX2 is the answer. It features the same plan achromatic objectives as are used in the inverted model and the same high power incident Kohler illumination. An optional transmitted light system can be fitted into the base of the microscope.
Specification ME-LUX2 Upright Microscope
